IBS stands for Irritable Bowel Syndrome, which causes the symptoms of:
• Pain in the abdomen
• Distension of the bowel
• Bloating of the abdomen
• Bowel dysfunction either diarrhoea, constipation or a fluctuation of the two.
IBS is occurring more frequently where 1 in 6 people will experience the symptoms of IBS and can develop at any age, the most common age is between 15-40 years old. It severity effects the quality of your life and can lead to many other health issues. When the digestive system is a weak part of your body, it can start to affect other systems. Within your digestive system is 80% of your immune system, if your digestive system is weak so is your immune system.
A weak bowel can allow toxic substances to enter your blood stream and therefore cause a weak immune system, hormonal system, liver and even affect the skin creating skin conditions.
Problems within the gut can arise only after many years of abuse. The problem with the gut is that you only think about it and what you are putting into it when you start to develop a problem, but then in order to repair properly it can take years.
Our western society has created the biggest challenge to your gut; GM foods, high carbohydrate diet, the added preservatives/additives, NSAIDs (non-steriodial anti-inflammatory’s), antibiotics, alcoholism and stressful lifestyles.
