As winter is drawing close this could be your last opportunity to give your body a bit of a quick cleanse and get it ready for the winter months. This digestive system cleanse is useful for first-timers, as a pre-cleanse before a fast, or just as a general cleanse without fasting to clear out the digestive system, and its also useful for people with mild digestive symptoms, or as a general preventative measure. This cleanse is usually for two to three weeks. And I advise you to stay off processed foods, alcohol, diary and wheat for the duration of this.
Instructions
1. Activated charcoal
Activated charcoal binds intestinal toxins and unfriendly microbial growth and excretes them in the stools. 500-600 mg three times per day 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals and medication.
2. Bentonite clay
Bentonite clay can be used in conjunction with activated charcoal or as a substitute. Bentonite is a type of edible clay that acts as a bulk laxative by absorbing water to form a gel, which then scraps along the intestinal wall, taking out any of the unwanted substances that are sitting in the wall. It binds toxins such as pesticides and helps to carry them out of the colon. Take 28g mixed in hot water and let to cool a little every day, before meals.
3. Psyllium
Psyllium is a dietary fiber that supports normal bowel function. It cleanses the mucus lining of the intestines and increases the bulk of the stools. 1-teaspoon psyllium powder three times per day. Stir psyllium into 8 oz water and drink immediately.
4. Slippery Elm
The active constituents in Slippery Elm and Marshmallow are large carbohydrate molecules, which make up the mucilage. They may provide a direct soothing effect and provide a protective barrier against gastric acid on the digestive mucosa. Mucilaginous herbs may also encourage the growth of beneficial gut flora. Marshmallow may soothe irritation of mucus membranes and has primarily been used for the support of the respiratory and digestive tracts; its high mucilage content may also support the urinary system as well. The Gamma-Oryzanol may support the regulation of gastric and ileal movements. These effects may be produced by reaction to the central nervous system of the gastric and ileal movements. Take 3 capsules a day.
5. Probiotics
Within the digestive tract there needs to be a balance maintained between healthy and potentially harmful microorganisms. Probiotics, are a supplement form of healthy microorganisms, to keep the healthy balance, these have been used for many years to increase the proportion of protective bacteria. They are also used to prevent problems from occurring within the digestive system. 1 scoop per day.
Continue taking probiotics for several weeks after the cleansing period is over. It should also be noted that probiotics should always be refrigerated before and after opening.
